Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team Wins Referees’ Sportsmanship Award

girls-soccer-team-copyOur varsity girls’ soccer team has been chosen to receive the 2016 Harry Rodgers/Jimmy Walder Fair Play award for good sportsmanship. The Eastern Pennsylvania and District Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association notified AFS on October 31 that it had chosen our ’Roos for the honor.

The award, which is voted on by the members, is based on their observations during games they officiate. It recognizes fair play, sportsmanship and commitment to the spirit of the game and is given out annually to one high school or college men’s or women’s team from the nearly 100 covered by the association.

Also on October 31, the ’Roos wrapped up their 2016 season with a hard-fought loss to Germantown Friends School in the semifinals of the Friends Schools League Quaker Cup tournament.
