Abington Friends School

About the Program: 3rd Team and Junior Varsity Boys Basketball at Abington Friends serve as opportunities for younger and less experienced players to develop their basketball skills in preparation for possible eventual promotion to the Varsity team. All interested students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate in 3rd Team Boys Basketball and JV Boys Basketball with each team playing a schedule of 10-15 games during the winter season of athletics at AFS. In general, the least experienced upper school boys basketball players comprise the 3rd Team roster, and no one is cut from the program. Frequently, 3rd Team players will also participate with the Junior Varsity team as an added supplement their 3rd Team play. JV and 3rd Team Boys Basketball seasons start in mid-November and conclude with their final games in early February.

AFS 3rd Team Boys Basketball Most Recent Season (2022-23): 

• Most players also played on AFS JV Boys Basketball team.
• Finished shortened season 5-0.
• All 9 players on roster scored in season-ending win over Friends’ Central.
• John McCracken ’25 scored double-digits in all games.
• Jermaine Brockington ’25 and Ezana Sileshi ’25 handled backcourt duties.
• Drew Shenkman ’25 was leading rebounder.
• Sean Reinsel completed 9th season at helm of Kangaroos.
