The AFS Kangaroos played with heart and boosted school pride with their sterling efforts in winter sports competition. The varsity girls’ basketball team set a blizzard pace all season and advanced to the Final Four in the state tournament for independent schools; the varsity wrestling team sent junior Michael Sadowski to the National Preps Wrestling Championship, and the JV girls’ basketball team claimed the 2016 Friends Schools League JV Tournament championship.

Senior basketball player Alexa Middleton scored her 1,000th career point this winter and signed a letter of intent to play basketball next season at Division 1 Monmouth University.

In the FSL swimming championships, freshman Michelle Lebed won a gold medal in the 100-yard butterfly and a silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke. Junior Evan Steinberg claimed bronze medals in the 500-yard freestyle and in the 100-yard backstroke.
