Athletics Team Up Day

Team Up

Many of AFS’s varsity and junior varsity teams put a new spin on the idea of teamwork this week when they participated in the Concussion Legacy Foundation’s “Team Up Day” on Tuesday.

The Concussion Legacy Foundation, an organization that focuses  on “solving the concussion crisis” in youth sports, designated “Team Up Day” to encourage student-athletes to help create a positive concussion culture in their communities.

AFS’s varsity and junior varsity players joined thousands of athletes around the United States who pledged to “team up and speak up” when they suspect a teammate may have suffered a concussion.

Meanwhile, Middle School student-athletes and Upper School personal fitness participants this week started their seasons, bringing the fall slate of AFS Athletics to its full capacity.

More than 200 AFS students, representing nearly 55 percent of the students in grades five through 12, are involved in the School’s athletics program this season.

“It’s exciting to see such strong participation this fall,” said Director of Athletics Jeff Bond. “I look forward to watching our students develop in so many ways in the next few months as they experience the physical and mental benefits of athletic engagement.”
